Hundreds of kites in every color, shape and size soared around the Washington Monument to welcome Spring in this years Annual Blossom Kite Festival. Kite fliers of all ages from across the United States and the world gather to fly handmade kites and compete for prizes during this colorful event. Although the weather didn’t make for a great cherry blossom bloom this year, the strong cool winds made it a perfect day for kite flying.
Lester Asamoah, a graduate student at American University, is a friend and an outstanding accomplished young professional. He is a Pickering Fellow and will soon graduate to join the State Department and travel the world. His success came as a result of dedication, focus, and hard work. Traits that he aquired years before when he started running track.
Designed to imitate 1800’s style bakeries, The Cake room is tucked in Adams Morgan, just off of 18th St. Inside the pink building, a little shop filled with cakes, cookies, and all baked sweets, run by Fadi Jabar and his team of dedicated bakers and baristas.
Shirin Yaseen moved to the U.S. six years ago to pursue a career in radio broadcast. It was a long trek from her Palestinian home, but her hard work and sacrifice were about to pay off. Listen to her tell her story here.
